U&I Renewables are a Yorkshire-based renewable energy installer covering air source heat pumps, solar PV, solar thermal, battery storage, hot water cylinders, gas boilers, and ongoing servicing. They’re also an approved installer under the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme, helping homeowners access grants of up to £7,500 toward heat pump installations.
When U&I came to us, they were operating on an old site under a previous domain – uandiservicingltd – that was visually dated, slow, and had no SEO strategy to speak of. They’d previously worked with an SEO agency that had delivered little to nothing in terms of rankings or enquiries.
For a company covering the whole of Yorkshire across multiple services and locations, the website simply wasn’t working. They were doing quality work, but their online presence wasn’t reflecting that – or bringing in new business.
Their goals were clear: look more professional, rank better in Google, and generate more enquiries.
We recommended starting fresh. There was no value in patching the old site – the domain, the design, and the structure all needed replacing. So we built U&I a brand new website from the ground up on a new domain, using WordPress and Breakdance.
The strategy had three pillars:
Renewable energy is a competitive local market and customers are making significant financial decisions. The design needed to feel credible and professional – someone considering a £10,000 heat pump installation isn’t going to enquire from a site that looks like it hasn’t been touched since 2015. Clean layout, clear service information, and prominent calls to action throughout.
Each of U&I’s seven core services got its own dedicated page – structured around what a homeowner actually needs to know, from what the technology does to what the installation process looks like and how to get a quote.
This was the strategic core of the project. We built over 200 location-specific pages covering every combination of service and target area across Yorkshire. The challenge in a competitive sector like renewables is making those pages earn their rankings – thin, templated pages get ignored by Google. Each page is written and structured to be genuinely useful to someone searching for that service in that area.
We also integrated WooCommerce for product sales and included ongoing hosting and maintenance as part of the package.
Over 200 location-specific pages built across Yorkshire, multiple service/location combinations ranking on page one, and a steady flow of organic enquiries – all on a brand new domain that gained real traction within six months.
The site took around six months to gain real traction on the new domain – expected for a competitive niche. Since then, U&I have seen consistent growth in organic visibility across Yorkshire. The location page strategy is working as intended: multiple service/location combinations now ranking on page one, with enquiries coming in regularly from organic search.
They found Pixelish via Google themselves, which felt like a reasonable proof of concept.
U&I Renewables are on our manage and SEO plan, which means we handle every aspect of their site – hosting, maintenance, security, and ongoing SEO work. There’s no back and forth with multiple suppliers. We own it end to end.
The ongoing work focuses on expanding location coverage, building domain authority, and continuing to grow organic visibility as the business develops.
This project was led by James Taylor, Director at Pixelish.
